Safe practices

If at all thinkable, shut off the power to a circuit before performing any idle on it. You must secure all sources of harmful might before a system may be considered safe to work on. In activity, securing a circuit, device, or system in this persuade is commonly known as placing it in a Zero Animation State. The focus of this lesson is, of surely, electrical safety. However, many of these principles relate to non-electrical systems as well.

Voltage by its very cast is a manifestation of potential energy. All properly designed circuits have "disunite" switch mechanisms for securing voltage from a lap. Sometimes these "disconnects" serve a dual drive of automatically opening under excessive known conditions, in which case we call them "circuit breakers." Other times, the disconnecting switches are strictly manually-operated devices with no conditioned function. In either case, they are there for your protection and must be habituated to properly. Please note that the disconnect contrivance should be separate from the regular switch second-hand to turn the device on and off.
